Why UGC?

University Grants Commission conducts the examination of NET -JRF (National Eligibility Test - Junior Research Fellowship) for the eligibility for Lectureships in India. The Examination is conducted twice a year in June and December. The bulletin for these are declared in the month of March and September respectively, in the national newspaper Employment News. the results are declared in the month of October and April for the exam held in June and December respectively. The results are published in Employment news as well as they are available on UGC website www.ugc.ac.in. the exam is conducted for the various students of humanities and social sciences background. the students with in sciences are supposed to give CSIR NET-JRF. the pattern of CSIR is bit different than the UGC NET. Here the UGC NET exam is discussed in detail. The top fellows of the NET examination are provided with JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) in form of stipend for research, which has now been increased from Rs. 8000 per month to Rs. 10000 pm with HRA. UGC also provides book grant amounting to Rs. 10000 per annum. the examination holds its undue significance for the reason it is an important means to look into the present scenario of the status of teaching aptitude and research methodology amongst the appearing candidates.
